Montessori Bathroom

It feels like it s the change from baby to toddler.
Montessori bathroom. It is attached to her toddler bedroom which she ll be moving into later this week so it is all set up for just her use. The eighteen month mark is a significant one in my mind. I ve hung hooks for a hand towel and his bath towel.
Toddlers are innately motivated to take care of themselves so they will be eager for these opportunities. A tray with a brush and small mirror next to her bows was perfect. The bathroom provides a wonderful opportunity to empower our toddlers and begin teaching them important life skills.
Montessori in the tub. Kid sized to optimize for accessibility and therefore build independence confidence. If using a potty it is a good idea to keep it in the bathroom rather than moving it around the house so your child can always find it.
The bathroom i have joined in with carine from the montessori family blog who is doing a montessori challenge for every month this year. I ve been loving the 30daystomontessori challenge finding small do able ways to incorporate more of the montessori method into our every day life. The left picture is a station i setup for avalyn to practice her care for self.
Each month i will be posting about a space in our home and talking about the challenges we face with it and how we have improved it or plan to improve it. As montessori parents our goal is to prepare the home environment for toddlers to be as independent as possible. The child can help by getting some dry underpants and putting any wet pants in the bucket.
She believed in the importance of creating a space where everything is within a child s reach even from a very young age hence the idea to design a montessori bedroom. Our bathroom is small and at one point i contemplated putting a mirror at joey s level and a wash stand but we just don t have the room. How to set up a montessori toddler bathroom.
